Last Weekends Results

1st Grade: went down to Indians 7-3
2nd Grade: were outplayed by Indians 10-1
3rd Grade: BYE
4th Grade Rebels: were unlucky with a late comeback to lose 8-7 Vs Pirates
5th Grade Rebels and Royals played each other and Royals were victorious 9 -2.

Rd 3 Results

1st Grade held off a late charge from a determined Indians side to win 10-8 in a warm day at Adcock Park. After Leading 9 nil early on, a pitching change from us saw Indians score 5 runs in the 8th, and then 3 runs in the 9th. But the boys held on and we managed the win. Thank you to the lower grades for backing up. Well done to Ben Ardrey who pitched a no hitter and no runs against him in his 6 innings. Great batting by Craig Hardwick, Nathan Young & Tate Ward.

2nd Grade What a fantastic game of baseball today with great starting, middle relief & closing pitching from Matt Perry, who allowed only 1 hit all game. Matt also lead with the bat picking up 2 hits. A close game for 4 innings with us only leading 2-1 going into the last dig. After the boys strung some hits together the runs followed and we scored 10 runs in the final innings. Some tidy fielding from Dillan McMaster and Matt Perry who had a terrific all round game today, set up a great 12-1 victory.

3rd Grade: No Report as yet

4th Grade: Rebels played Royals in a great game of baseball out at Adelaide st on Saturday. For the Rebels, Doug Smith pitched well and had 2 hits to set up the 5-3 Victory. Darren Peterson also batted well with 2 hits. Andy Clyburn had a great impact in the field. For the Royals, Darrell Duncan led with the bat with 2 hits and Chad Connelly caught well. Overall a terrific game to watch that could have gone either way, but in the end 2 RBI's to Dougie Smith sealed the victory for the Rebels.

5th Grade: The Rebels tried really hard to win their game against a young Indians side, but just couldn't string the hits together needed to put more runs on the board. Adam Mitchell started really well on the mound but a few fielding errors from the team in the first couple of digs saw some unearned runs score. Col Tippett closed out the game also with some great pitching but we were unable to catch up and went down 7-5.

5th Grade: Royals BYE

Senior Results Rd1 & Rd2

The season started for Seniors last weekend with some great Results:

RD 1
Our 1st grade side were due to play Wildcats but some unexpected weather saw the game called of minutes before start of play.
2nd grade played well and defeated Wildcats 6-5.
3rd were unlucky and had a loss to Pirates 11-3
4th grade fought hard and walked away with a 3 all draw with Wildcats
5th Grade Rebels started the season well with a great 11-4 victory over Wildcats.
5th Grade Royals had a close loss to Wooducks 9-6

RD 2
1st Grade had a fantastic Mercy win over Bears 13-3
2nd Grade had a big win over Bears 18-3
3rd Grade had the BYE
4th Rebels played well to beat Bears 5-3
4th Royals were outplayed by Wildcats losing 16-1
5th Rebels had a loss to Bears 4-3
5th Royals had a narrow loss 8-4 against Indians

Senior & Junior Training Times

Senior training will begin on Thursday 25th September at Adelaide Street at 5.oop.m, with the competition due to start on Saturday 11th October.

Junior training will begin on Monday 29th September at Adelaide Street at 5.00p.m. We have not been given dates for the beginning of the season yet but we will pass on the information as soon as it comes to hand.

We will be trying to notify parents & players by email this year of any training or game changes, so if you haven't given your email on the rego forms please forward it to us A.S.A.P.

Last Chance Registrations

We are hold an extra registration day for the people whom couldn't attend the last 2 rego days.

The competition is due to start in a couple of weeks and we need to sort out the teams. We have had a massive influx of new players so you may have played last year & wish to play in the same grade but we may not be able to fit you in if you do not register.

2008-2009 Summer Season Registrations

Our registrations for Junior and Senior players for the up coming season will be held on Saturday 30th August & Sunday 7th September between 11.00am & 2.00pm at

The new season will start the week after the October long weekend which is earlier than normal because of daylight savings being brought forward.
Existing, new and people that use to play are all encouraged to register on these dates to avoid delays in team placement for the start of the season.

Junior Presentation Sunday 4th May

Junior Presentation Sunday 4th May 11.30am. Mingara One Leisure Centre. BBQ lunch supplied.
For non playing children the cost will be $10 which includes pool activities and lunch.
Food & drinks will also be on sale for the parents and family.
Please remember to bring back all playing tops & pants.

Its a fun night & a chance to talk up your performances from through out the year.

4th Grade Finish Runners Up

Unfortunately 4th grade were defeated by Indians in the Grand final.

Paul Woolven who won 2nd grade player of the year. Not bad for two "old blokes".

Congratulations to JD & his 4th grade side for being the only senior Rebels team to make it into the Grand Final.

Great Effort

Rebels won 6-2

Our only win of the day but what a great win it was.
Most of the match we were up 2 nil, with a great pitching duel between Ben " have you seen my shoe,pants and hat" Ardrey and Ken McInnes. It may be hard to believe but both teams only had 3 hits a piece in 6 innings, 2 of our 3 hits came in the first 4 batters of the game with Chad Roberts hitting a double and Dylan McMaster a single. Our other hit was to Matt Cashman who scored off an error, we got our next 4 runs quite easily.
Dylan McMaster was solid behind the plate.

Another One Slip's

3rd grade Vs Indians
Indians won 9-5

An unhappy day for 3rd grade, again leading until the last dig.
We came into the bottom of the 4th 5-4 up, but Indians determined batters found some gaps and after a few hits and a walk they scored 4 runs and the game was gone.
Fight hard boys (and Sam) you are all better than this so let's get behind 3rd Grade this week Vs Wildcats.

4th Grade Vs Indians
Indians won 15-4

I'm sure the boys would be happy to put this game in the "never to be mentioned file." The Indians side unfortunately turned up ready to play and had 9 runs given to them in the 1st dig. Doug Smith pitched hard, but the in form Tribe had other ideas. We managed to beat them 6-2 on the last outing, but this time things were to be very different. The boys tried hard but once errors crept into the game the Indians capitalized.

Wasn't Our Day

5th grade Rebels lost to the Mohawks 7 - 5.
Going for our 4th straight win we came into this game fairly confident. While we were never out of the game, we struggled to string hits together.
The umpire didn't help with some unusual calls which(to say it nicely) frustrated our pitcher.
Rod Travis was our standout with the bat, while Josh Peterson fielded well at short. The Mohawks who are leading the league got a few safe hits and scored runs early. We managed to score 1 or 2 runs each dig but it wasn't enough, and we went down 7-5.
We never stopped trying, they were just too good for us on the day.

Bears Give Us A Scare

1st Grade:- Bears put up a courageous effort against Rebels but were eventually overpowered 15-8.
Bears led for much of the game thanks to great pitching from Michael Black and Sean Doudle backed up by their field with solid performances from Tony Andrews, Raymond Soo and Phil O'Donnel. Bears batting was also solid throughout the line up getting consistent hits through the first 6 innings.
Joel Hudons on the mound for Rebels eventually shut them down and good clutch hitting from Chad Roberts, Josh Ardrey, Todd Bowden, Kurt Eden and Nathan Young got Rebels the lead in the last few innings. The stand out performance on the day was from Bear's Brendan Eather who, backing up from a five hit game in 2nd Grade caught some great outfield catches and went 4 from 4 in first grade.

3rd Grade blew a 6 - 3 lead going into the last innings to come away with a 6 all draw against The Bears

4th Grade def Bears 16 - 5

Rebels Shine On A Miserable Day

5th grade Rebels played well in defeating the 2nd placed Wooducks 6 - 3.
In a game the was interrupted twice by rain , the Rebels started well with the bat scoring 4 runs in the 1st dig, 2 in the 2nd but could not score any in the 3rd dig. It was lucky the Wooducks had a bad day with the bat suffering 8 strike outs in their 4 innings.
The play of the day must go to Becc Bowden who unselfishly replaced herself so the pitcher who was due to have a half game could continue in such a tight game. How good would sport be if everyone played the game with that sort of team spirit.
Everyone is playing well and lets hope we can keep our run going against the competition leaders this week.

Royals Keep Finals Hopes Alive

5th grade Royals returned to the diamond after the festive season with a strong performance to beat the Wildcats 11-7 in a rain interrupted game.
Everyone who batted got at least one hit with Jack Denny leading the way again with a double and 2 singles. Russel Sheaves also hit a double with Des Ho, Darren Kellard, Keith Wilson and Deb Brown all getting 2 singles. Wayne Turner, Michael Peterson and Darrell Duncan all recorded one single each.
The fielding performance was highlighted by not one but two double plays in the game. In the first innings Wayne Turner made a strong throw from 1st to Darren Kellard behind the plate to complete a 1-3-2 double while Michael Peterson finished the game with an unassisted double play at 3rd base. Royals take on Wooducks at Baseball Park Springfield.

Rebels Can Play On Water

5th grade Rebels again have bragging rights over the Royals with a 13-9 win.
The field was like a swamp with puddles of smelly stale water all over the out field but everyone played strongly to keep our winning run going.
Lachlan Smith had his first start on the mound and showed our regular pitcher he better stay on his toes because Lachlan can certainly throw some heat.
