5th grade Royals returned to the diamond after the festive season with a strong performance to beat the Wildcats 11-7 in a rain interrupted game.
Everyone who batted got at least one hit with Jack Denny leading the way again with a double and 2 singles. Russel Sheaves also hit a double with Des Ho, Darren Kellard, Keith Wilson and Deb Brown all getting 2 singles. Wayne Turner, Michael Peterson and Darrell Duncan all recorded one single each.
The fielding performance was highlighted by not one but two double plays in the game. In the first innings Wayne Turner made a strong throw from 1st to Darren Kellard behind the plate to complete a 1-3-2 double while Michael Peterson finished the game with an unassisted double play at 3rd base. Royals take on Wooducks at Baseball Park Springfield.
